With the Voiture RUF Edition 2.0, Nezumi has once again teamed up with RUF, a company specializing in heavily modified Porsche sports cars.
This Voiture chronograph is one of the limited edition NEZUMI Specials, and each watch is individually numbered and assembled in Germany.
RUF and Nezumi
A family-owned business since 1939, RUF builds high-performance sports cars based on classic and modern Porsches.
David Campo, the founder of Nezumi, is an avid Porsche fan – so this partnership was meant to be.
The new Voiture limited edition is a tribute to one of RUF’s greatest achievements – the CTR “Yellowbird,” which upon its launch in 1987 was the world’s fastest production car. And it was – you guessed it – yellow, as is the key color theme of this Voiture.
The Voiture
The Voiture’s design is based on racing chronographs from the 1960s and 1970s. The dial takes a lot of inspiration from car dashboard instruments, as was the trend back in the era that it pays tribute to.
Clear and legible subdials, external tachymeter scale, piston-shaped pushers.
With the yellow RUF logo and a large chunk of the dial, this one, ref. VQ2S.901.2, is just as dynamic and modern as it wouldn’t be out of place on a race track in the 1970s.
The look is completed with a thick leather strap with rally-style perforations.
The Voiture is powered by the Seiko VK63, a mecha-quartz movement. This means a mechanical chronograph module is sitting on top of a quartz base.
With all the merits of quartz, it gives the crisp feel of a mechanical chronograph in the way the pushers operate, the smooth motion of the chrono seconds hand, and an instant, snap reset that you’d be hard-pressed to find in any standard quartz chronograph.
This watch comes in quite a versatile size, measuring 40mm in diameter and 47mm from lug to lug, so it’ll look good on both small and large wrists.
Meanwhile, the contrasting brushed and polished finish gives it a sporty and elegant appearance.
Like all Voiture models, it’s equipped with a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on the inside and has a water resistance of 5ATM/50m.
This makes it an excellent choice for everyday wear, whether you’re riding in the car to work or out of town for the weekend.
Our impression
As always, Nezumi offers an excellent option for those looking for a watch that’s unlikely to appear “in the wild,” with genuine ties to the world of sports cars, and won’t break the bank.
Considering the success of all past and current Nezumi models, it looks like the brand delivered again.
There will be 400 numbered watches in total, and the first 100 will be available for pre-order on December 1st, with delivery expected by the end of December 2021.
The previous collaboration with RUF sold out in 18 minutes, so hurry up if you want one.
